Kampala Junior Academy (KJA) is one of the leading private schools in Uganda, offering nursery school, daycare, and primary school education since 1993.

The school was founded by Mrs Mary Mulumba, a dedicated teacher with over 60 years in the field of early childhood education. From the beginning, her dream was clear — to give young learners a strong start in life through quality, caring, holistic and child friendly education.

Vision

To be an inclusive school that has high aspirations for every child, to create a well facilitated institution that is capable of shaping children into future responsible leaders.

Mission

To give learners the best possible head start on their academic careers by encouraging their natural inquisitiveness, creativity and motivation to learn.

We started humbly, with only a Nursery Section at Clement Hill Road, focusing on the youngest children in our care. Our daycare and preschool programs helped parents feel supported, knowing their little ones were in safe hands. By 1997, we had grown to open our Primary section, and in 2003, we proudly saw our first P7 pupils sit for their Primary Leaving Exams (PLE).

Today, Kampala Junior Academy has five campuses across Kampala:

  • Kitante
  • Bunga
  • Makindye
  • Najjanankumbi
  • Ntinda.

Each one provides a safe, nurturing space for learners at every stage — from daycare and nursery school, all the way to primary school. We believe in giving children the tools they need to succeed academically, socially, and personally. In 2021, we moved into the digital world by launching our online learning platform—so children can keep learning from home wherever they are.

Our goal is to make quality early childhood education more accessible to families in Uganda and beyond. From our first steps in 1993 to our growth in primary education and our leap into online preschool and primary learning, KJA continues to stay committed to the success of every child.

We are proud of our journey and look forward to building more bright futures through excellent education, leaving an everlasting mark on Uganda’s educational environment.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the KJA family!
